Emerge Founder Speaks to the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center

On November 28, 2007, Alia presented “Emerge: A Tool for Transformation” at the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC). Serving more than 8,500 individuals in 2007, “the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC), established in 1973, was one of the first rape crisis centers in the United States to advocate for and support survivors of sexual assault” (http://www.barcc.org/whoweare.html). Alia spoke to more than 60 volunteers, who asked questions about Emerge’s activities and therapeutic effect on young survivors in Sri Lanka. The talk was followed by an Emerge jewelry sale where many women celebrated Emerge jewelry through holiday purchases and donations.
