Kaavya initially worked as Communications Officer with Emerge back in 2015 for two years and discovered that this work was deeply meaningful to her. She later joined Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka to gain experience, and travelled extensively around the island while capturing the realities and impact of poverty housing in the diverse rural communities in Sri Lanka, and was able to expand on her Resource Development skill set in that capacity while working closely with the Asia Pacific Communications Team. The work of Emerge remained close to Kaavya's purpose, and she returned back to Emerge in 2020. She sees the Emerge participants as some of the strongest young women in society - and is a huge advocate for their untapped potential to re-claim their life and power. Kaavya is determined to make space in the digital world for the powerful stories of impact that Emerge witnesses every day. Kaavya is passionate about creating awareness on the cause and advocating for survivors, and is passionate about ethical story-telling and survivor representation.
