Nirukshi first joined the Emerge team in 2007 to lead the Beads-to-Business programme, where she supported young women to develop creative skills and build pathways to financial independence through jewellery-making.

Since then, she has remained deeply committed to walking alongside young survivors of sexual abuse, supporting their healing, confidence and growth. She brings strong organisational skills and a compassionate, attentive approach, creating space for girls to share their stories, build resilience, and recognise their own strength and potential.

She has worked closely with girls in state-run shelters, supporting their journey towards self-sufficiency, healing and reintegration, and helping to foster safe, supportive environments where young women can transition into adulthood with dignity and confidence.

Nirukshi currently teaches and mentors participants at the Emerge Centre for Reintegration, continuing to empower young women as they build independent, self-directed futures.
